The first HEaTED London Regional Network Meeting

The first meeting of the HEaTED London Regional Network will take place at King’s College London on January 18, Noon – 4.30pm.

THIS IS A FREE EVENT

Shaping the Future of Technical Services and Infrastructure

The context of this interactive meeting is threefold, (all of which impact upon the future of technical services in universities, and the people who discharge them):

  1. The emergence of regional networks, where TMans and organisation development people work together to resolve key issues arising from the strategic and operational consequences of economic constraint and the Browne Review.  For example: http://www.hr-services.stir.ac.uk/documents/ReportScotlandNetworkmeeting.doc
  1. The transfer of HEaTED management to MyScience and how Technical managers can influence its direction and strategy, so as to exploit this valuable resource.  MyScience’s is involved with the outcome of the Science Council’s research into technician workforce and professional registration.

  1. The escalating need for structured professional training and development practice, so as to equip the technical workforce for significant changes in organisation governance and technology.

The final agenda can be downloaded as a pdf file below.

The view nationally is that Tmans, in their leadership role, should play a significant role in drawing all of the technical workforce into participation in resources and activities that are shaping the global changes in their university institutions.  HEaTED  will be a substantial part of that.

Please draw this meeting to the attention of all people involved in a technical / technical manager role, and any staff responsible for organisational development.  We stress the importance of a presence from all university institutions in the London region.

Venue: Gordon Museum, Hodgkin Building on the Guy’s Campus, King's College, London.  Click here for directions.   Lunch will be provided.
