The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is one of the most important and powerful techniques being applied in virtually all areas of modern molecular biology today. The popularity of the PCR technique has rapidly increased since its introduction. This seminar is aimed at those life science technicians and researchers with limited or no specific PCR experience who wish to learn some key skills to its planning and application. There will be opportunities for attendees to discuss their specific needs.
The seminar will mainly focus on introductory PCR together with some applied techniques that will be of use in an average molecular biology lab. Due to time constraints there will be no practical "wet" component to the seminar. Instead the seminar will focus on relaying key skills and techniques for the effective planning of PCR projects suiting the particular applications and the design of the primers.
The first session will be an introductory talk on PCR followed by a session covering commonly applied PCR techniques and concluding with a focus on PCR and Bioinfomatics using computer assisted learning techniques. |
