An opportunity to learn hand knitting skills. The day will be intensive and practical. Casting on and off will be taught, as will the basic stitches for garter stitch, stocking stitch and ribs. Stripes will be incorporated into the sampling. During the second half of the day, depending on progress some individuals may wish to move on faster than others and develop a more creative approach with their new found skills. There will be discussion about needle selection, yarn content/colour choices and stitch uses in garment making. At the end of the day participants will be able to knit and to take away their samples and relevant hand outs. Some yarns and needles will be provided, although participants may wish to bring their own specialist equipment.
