This course provides an introduction to the safe use of lifting and associated equipment. It gives instruction on the correct way to sling a load prior to lifting, and the safe way of lifting objects using overhead cranes and hoists. It also gives an insight into recent legislation; The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (P.U.W.E.R) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (L.O.L.E.R.). It also provides instruction on the identification of safe working loads and the estimation of weights. The course is intended for all staff who use lifting equipment or have the facility to use lifting equipment. As no staff under the age of eighteen are allowed to use lifting equipment without supervision, anyone giving such supervision would be advised to attend this course. |
