It is a legal requirement under the Abrasive Wheel Regulations 1970, Regulation 9 that training to mount abrasive wheels shall be given to anyone with the responsibility for changing wheels on grinding machines.
This course is designed for those who may be required to change or dress abrasive grinding wheels or maintain grinding machinery or equipment.
The main objective of the course is to advise on the safe use of abrasive wheels in order to minimise the risks associated with grinding e.g. wheel bursting etc.
Advice and guidance will be provided on the selection of the appropriate wheel to suit machine spindle speed and on the choice and use of the most appropriate abrasive grit and bond to suit the material to be ground. Students will be instructed in the inspection of wheels for damage and distortion and advised on storage of wheels to prevent such damage. |
